ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In recent years demand for the Solaris 10 Operating System on non-Sun x86 hardware has exploded, and companies like AMD, Intel, IBM and Dell have partnered with Sun in order to capitalize on the opportunities. This internship is focused on helping Sun increase both Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris sales on non-Sun hardware by defining new target markets and developing go-to-market strategies. You will work regularly with the Solaris Marketing and Engineering teams as well as Marketing, Sales and Operations groups across Sun. Responsibilities will include: * Conducting market research to define targets for Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris in the high volume embedded and appliance markets * Developing a plan for tailoring Solaris and OpenSolaris for third party hardware manufacturers * Working with Sun’s worldwide sales organization to structure marketing materials and programs to successfully win opportunities

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: * Ability to work with executives and partners
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: * Must have basic knowledge or experience in computer systems or embedded systems and software * Business and marketing acumen
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE: * Marketing or sales experience * Strong written communications and presentation skills * Ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment. * Understanding of the Operating System market
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 2+
MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: BS or BA in Technical Field
FIELD OF STUDY: MBA or similar
