Job Summary: Under the direction of the Nurse Manager and the guidance of a mentor/preceptor, the Nurse Intern facilitates patient care by making nursing assessments and diagnoses, formulating care plans based on those diagnoses and implementing and evaluating the plans of care. The Nurse Intern demonstrates knowledge and support of hospital and nursing standards.
With direction from the mentor/preceptor, the Nurse Intern provides instruction, guidance and/or assistance to other team members including Nursing Assistants (NA's), Patient Care Technicians (PCT's), Patient Support Technicians (PST's), and ACC Clerks. The Nurse Intern demonstrates competence to plan, initiate and evaluate care for patients in accordance with skills list.
Educational Requirements: Must successfully complete the Nurse Intern Program offered by Indian River Memorial Hospital. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Must provide the following documents: - receipt from the Florida State Board of Nursing indicating that application to take the State board examination or application for endorsement has been received; - confirmation letter from the Florida State Board of Nursing indicating the applicant has met the qualifications to write the State board exam.
