Windows 2K/ 2003 Server Administrator
at Southern California Edison in Rancho Cucamonga, CA
The successful candidate will report to the dedicated CCO IT Systems Management group and will be responsible for Systems, Database, and Problem Management, of various CCO operation systems. Typical responsibilities will include: managing, reporting, installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, patching, backup, recovery, performance tuning, and supporting CCO operating systems utilizing ITIL Change Management methodology; providing cross functional support and guidance to CCO Systems' critical processes; ensuring compliance for system security, vendor KPI's and contractual obligations, ensuring the integrity and availability of production and local data archives, configuration and support of Oracle 10g and Microsoft SQL 2005; seeking pro-active management of production systems and risk mitigation; providing expertise in performance monitoring, tuning, and patch management; creating and maintaining server documentation relating to server configuration, application, and procedures and working with application developers, application DBAs, CCO vendors, and team members to look for ways to improve the operational environment; proactively monitoring server health and performance using tools and technology to ensure high availability and reliability of the CCO applications; creating and maintaining SQL scripts for CCO Data warehouse and employing data mining to create routine and adhoc reports for problem management and proactive systems management; and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
Minimum six years experience installing, configuring, backup, troubleshooting, and recovery of HP Proliant Servers and a wide variety of application software in large enterprises.
General Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Demonstrated operational experience in a high availability (24 x 7), high service level (99. 9% or better) operational organization. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Windows Server 2003 operating system, database management system (DBMS) such as Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access. Demonstrated experience performing operating system failure analysis. Demonstrated ability to work with vendors to obtain problem resolution. Demonstrated experience working with and enforcing IT and Contact Center standards around service accounts, configuration, registry entries, security settings/configurations, and file permissions. Demonstrated ability to coordinate with clients, on routine and scheduled outages to avoid/minimize interruption to normal business operation. Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent documentation skills. Demonstrated ability to share knowledge with the team. Must have a client service focused attitude. Demonstrated ability to work as an independent contributor or in a team environment and work on multiple assignments under time constraints with changing priorities. This position requires travel to support Long Beach Contact Center servers as needed. This position requires on-call rotation availability to provide 7 day by 24 hours by 365 day coverage, this includes holidays and weekends. Participation in weekend patch management, upgrades of software and/or hardware maintenance is required as needed.
Preferred Skills:
Demonstrated ability to configure optimal server security. Demonstrated experience in supporting application, database, and web servers. Demonstrated experience in performance and tuning servers. HP certified or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Experience with the ITIL framework and processes.
