Overview:
Individual selected will be responsible for managing distributed IBM AIX & HP-UX Servers, including disk storage subsystems. Individual will be responsible for server configuration, system installations, troubleshooting, performance tuning at a hardware and software level (including system tuning with hosted C applications) , overseeing security, conducting backups and monitoring for critical operations in the area of automated sortation. Individual will consult with business area and field users, management and vendors to provide capacity planning analysis for the mission critical IT sortation systems. Individual will work with a team of software developers to evaluate the organization’s technology use and recommend improvements in hardware and software, and to identify solutions for operational needs.
Position requires 10% overnight travel and on-call availability for end-user/system support on a rotating basis.

Minimum year(s) of experience in the following areas:
4 years minimum experience hosting databases on Unix Server platforms included system performance tuning to increase data I/O rates. 4 years minimum experience with server performance tuning experience using techniques at a hardware and software level. This includes analysis, determination and remediation of performance issues.
Work Related Skills:
4 years experience with IBM AIX and/or HPUX operating systems including installation and configuration and maintaining disk storage subsystems.
2 years minimum C programming experience including troubleshooting and hosting of C applications.
Education - Mandatory Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or a related field plus 6 years of experience in the offered position or with IT functions in a business environment.
Education - Preferred Requirement:
Master’s degree in computer science, MIS or a related field plus 4 years of experience in the offered position or with IT functions in a business environment
