Switch Tech Intern

Switch Tech Internship
Location: Plantation, FL

Internship Length: 3-6 months

Hours/Week: 30 - 40 hrs/wk; Mon-Fri
Position Purpose
Initial responsibilities will be to work in the Miami switch environment supporting the organizing and implementing of switch related activities. The individual will work closely with switch and field technicians tracking the progress of operational work within the market utilizing company based tools. By working closely with the market technicians the individual will have the opportunity to gain understanding of roles and responsibilities of a switch technician.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
# Assist in testing, locating, and repairing complex equipment issues.
# Monitor the progress of scheduled work in the market to ensure SLAs, (Service Level Agreement) are consistently being met.
# Handle configuration and fault management within the switching and radio components Perform database backups and conduct maintenance of computer hardware and software.
# Work with telecom vendors to meet schedules for new equipment installation.
# Assist RF (Radio Frequency) Engineering & Operational teams in handling network performance.
Position Requirements
# Strong working knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
# Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
# Understanding of telephone architecture systems a plus
# 10 - 15% travel ability desired
# Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
# A clean driving record is required.
Education & Experience
# The Intern must be currently obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Networking or related field.
# Completed coursework that deals with circuitry, computers, or electrical engineering is a plus.
# Knowledge of the wireless industry is desirable.
