Cert Phlebotomist I
This position is responsible for specimen procurement by venipuncture/skin puncture from adults, children and newborns; performing office clerical tasks to include test ordering into the LIS, answering phones, giving out test results, responding to phone inquiries and some on-line billing; preparing specimens to send to referral labs; performing other related duties as assigned or requested to support the department and must adhere to all hospital, laboratory safety and infection control policies.
Required qualifications include experience in a hospital or laboratory environment as a phlebotomist, lab assistant or technician with phlebotomy certification; office skills including computer, telephone communication, data entry, billing and patient reception; ability to perform in emergency situations and at odd hours; have a high level of accuracy and realizes the importance and responsibilities of the laboratory role in the hospital field; possess good problem solving skills; ability to be flexible in performing duties and in work schedules; and must have a current California Phlebotomist License. Medical terminology and hospital background preferred.
