Lean Manufacturing Engineer

The Lean Manufacturing Engineer sets the tone and pace in this regard by working as part of a team for our client in Kent, WA. He/she also manages business improvement projects as a dynamic change agent using Lean and Six Sigma tools to deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in operational costs, quality and performance. Design, develop and propose improvements to equipment and systems using knowledge of engineering principles, industry standards and working design to meet production requirements, performance, quality, and safety standards. Employ six sigma tools and scientific and statistical expertise to perform root cause and correlation analysis to identify and develop corrective actions for solving product and process failures. Deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability, design for manufacture, and manufacturing efficiencies in order to achieve corporate goals in operational excellence. Identify and manage project resources, requirements, and constraints to ensure that process improvement projects meet the specified scope, are on schedule, and within the authorized budget, to ensure key success factors priorities and corporate fiscal expectations are accomplished. Proactively identify and propose corporate-wide and facility level improvement opportunities and influence our client’s management team during the project selection process to ensure well-informed project selection and resource utilization. Communicate professionally in written, oral, and presentation form, project progress regarding formal milestones, issues and benefit realizations to ensure management’s understanding of project status. Develop, document and continually improve best-practice manufacturing standards, methods, policies and procedures to optimize cost and quality of our client’s products. Develop and facilitate multi-plant cross-functional project teams that are focused on our client’s key success factors in order to meet Quanex profit expectations. Train, coach and mentor all levels of the organization, from entry-level to management in contemporary improvement techniques to further the corporate development and understanding of lean and six sigma methodologies. The ideal candidate must have a broad and in depth understanding of the fenestration industry is beneficial to successfully carry out the role of the Lean Manufacturing Engineer. Must have excellent communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with all levels within the organization and with external customers. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field is required Five years plus of progressive continuous improvement experience in a process industry, required. Must be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project software and Auto-CAD and 3D CAD. Six Sigma training required and certification is a plus. Skilled in world class manufacturing methodology: Lean Manufacturing, Lean Management, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, SPC, Value Stream Mapping and Visual Controls.
