Human Resources Intern

Job Summary: We are currently seeking a Human Resources Intern for our Parsippany, New Jersey location beginning October, 2008. This position works in the home office for approximately 20 hours per week, supporting the Director, Human Resources-Corporate as well as other department team members. In addition to assisting with day-to-day generalist responsibilities, the Human Resources Intern participates in ad-hoc projects, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of Human Resources.
Responsibilities: In this position, you will work closely with the Director, Human Resources to provide support to Corporate personnel in various functions, including but not limited to: recruitment, employee relations, compensation organizational development and training. You will assist with the coordination of key employee functions, such as new hire orientation programs, talent management programs, and training initiatives. Additionally, you will gain exposure to the recruitment, selection and hiring process by assisting the staffing team with assigned positions and recruiting responsibilities as well as extensive utilization of our applicant tracking system. Under direct supervision, you will be responsible for researching alternate recruitment sources, and collaborating with hiring managers to create job descriptions and advertisements for open positions. In this position, you will work on ad hoc projects or reports either on an individual or team basis, in order to further your exposure to and knowledge of different human resources areas.
Education/Experience: Qualified candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program with a concentration in Human Resources or related field. Prior experience in a corporate business environment is preferred; experience in Human Resources Department a plus. It is required that you are proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point). Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills (oral and written), and time management skills are essential.
