Full-time Waterpark Operations Internship

at Walt Disney Company in Lake Buena Vista, FL

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The WALT DISNEY WORLD Recreation INTERNSHIP Program is geared towards day-to-day operations learning at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon or Disney's Blizzard Beach. This INTERNSHIP allows the student an opportunity to develop professional and personal skills by working in an environment that is both dynamic and challenging. This program expands the learning experience through continued education and professional growth within the WALT DISNEY WORLD environment. Because of our ever evolving business, and the need to be flexible, the program responsibilities listed are very general: For the first 2-3 months, the interns will spend 32 hours each week as an on-line Cast Member. They will rotate through each of the disciplines by experiencing recreation first hand.

The discipline locations include, but are not limited to Guest services, Custodial, Lifeguard, Lifeguard Coordinator, Rentals/Cashier, Merchandise, Food & Beverage, and Management Shadow Training. In addition, Interns will have 8 hours per week dedicated to research, in-class studies, job shadow opportunities, and cross-utilization experiences. For the last 3-4 months, the intern will train with the leadership team to learn how to manage day-to-day operations of a water park. Interns are responsible for creating a portfolio which will be presented to the Recreation Division Committee during the final month of the INTERNSHIP. All Interns will participate in on-going one-on-one meetings with Mentor Manager and periodical reviews (depending on the requirements from the Intern’s University). Interns will attend classroom learning presentations once a month.
