Sony Pictures Studio Production Services (SPSPS) is responsible for providing all the facilities and services that are necessary for production companies to create quality television and major motion pictures.
The Studio Services Finance and Accounting department is currently seeking an Intern to assist in the maintenance of the daily, monthly and annual financials. The person should be interested in gaining practical accounting knowledge of the Entertainment Industry and able to handle their school workload along with working 20-30 hours weekly. The schedule is flexible but does require a potential intern to be here Friday mornings. This internship will provide you with good practical hands-on accounting and system experience. Ideally, looking for someone in their Jr. year who is looking for a long-term position. This should be considered a stepping stone position. Other interns have moved into permanent positions within the department and throughout Sony.
Responsbilities:
Weekly cash deposit and journal entry
Weekly clearing of suspense related entries
Assist staff in day-to-day activities
Compile food services check request summary
Assist in credit card reconciliation
Filing
Assist with preparing annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, mid-range plans and ad hoc management reporting.
Prepare special projects/analysis as required.
Experience/Skills:
Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects.
Strong follow-through on all projects; ability to bring projects to timely completion.
Ability to quickly grasp new concept
Detail oriented.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in Excel, also preferably SAP.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner (oral and written communication).
Requirements:
Must be able to work 20-30 hours per week including a full day on Fridays
Must be enrolled in a college or university, preferably working towards an accounting/finance degree.
Must have completed 2-3 entry level accounting courses and interested in a career in accounting or finance.
Willing to commit to 6 months - 1 year
Strong MS Excel skills.
