full time Media & Acquisition Internship - Film Company

at Women's Independent Cinema in San Francisco, CA

Women’s Independent Cinema (WI Cinema) seeks interns for the Acquisition and Distribution Department to assist with the administrative organization and data management for the WI Cinema Film & Documentary Collection. Activities include but are not limited to: reviewing and editing film descriptions, contacting filmmakers for updated information, cross-checking and assisting with the overall web site database. Candidates should be energetic with excellent communication skills, computer skills, and have a passion for the film industry.

Aside from the more specified tasks above, the candidate would also need to be comfortable with executing basic administrative assistant tasks like filing, typing and communicating via email and telephone.

Internship is a part-time and unpaid position. Scheduling is flexible. This position is best suited for interns willing to share and gain skills in all aspects of a distribution company that specializes in mainstream and independent media, and for those who have a sincere interest in women filmmakers and independent film.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Word and Excel, and experience with Dreamweaver and FileMaker Pro a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Out-going and friendly personality
  • Knowledge of computers, search engines, and networking sites
  • Team player that works well individually
  • Knowledge of independent film and Women’s Issues/Women Studies preferred
  • Access to your own computer
