Full-time New York Program Development Intern

at Dress for Success in New York, NY

Job Description:

We are looking for fall intern to work at our Manhattan office in New York City. Interns will be challenged and work closely with the New York Program Director and provide assistance in the strategic planning, coordination, management of the annual Career Fair.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with special projects and daily operations
• Participate in community awareness and marketing events
• Assess effectiveness of past Career Fairs and work towards increasing partner program and client participation in the upcoming fair
• Recruit other organizations to present or sponsor the fair
• Map out key components & timeline for the Career Fair
• Research potential sponsors
• Plan programming including workshop seminars and lectures
• Draft proposal to implement
• Reports to and works closely with the Program Director Job Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university

Targeted Academic Departments and Areas of Concentration

• Business/ Economics Department – Concentration in management, marketing, or human resource
• Public Administration
• Communication
• Urban and Ethnic Studies
• Social Work
• English and/or Journalism
• Public Relations
• Non-profit management
• Fundraising
• Women’s Studies
• Meet requirements of institutions to participate in internship for credit
• Complete between 10 and 20 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Team player with the ability to take initiative
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Flexible and able to multi-task
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision
• Knowledgeable in non-profit policy and procedures
• Able to operate Windows’98, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, Internet and E-mail
• Energetic
• Willing and able to perform administrative services
• Strong organizational skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Creative
• Experience working with volunteers and/or corporations
