Hay & Forage Field Test Intern - Fall 2008

Duties:
1) Understand the Product Evaluation organization and how to assist field and whole vehicle lab testing on a Platform Team.
2) Develop competencies with the process of testing prototype machines/components in actual and simulated field conditions; support the Product Evaluation organization in performing the testing process.
3) Develop competencies with the process of assembling prototype machines/components in preparation for testing.
4) Develop competencies with the process for maintaining accurate and comprehensive test records of machines/components under test and support these activities.
5) Develop competencies with the process for submitting daily evaluation reports and summaries concerning machine and component performance, reliability, serviceability, safety and customer appeal.
6) Assist in the preparation and transportation of machines to field test sites as required to facilitate evaluation.
7) Travel to N. American test sites working with direct supervision as required; travel amount will be variable depending upon Program requirements, 40 to 60% of the internship is typical. Travel expenses will be reimbursed per the CNH travel policy.
8) Work directly with other Engineering, Manufacturing and Marketing personnel, dealers and cooperators to become familiar with the total scope of the organization.
9) Develop competencies with the various branded products of CNH and competitive equipment, learning to operate, test and compare the different products; work within a project team environment including; management, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, dealers and customers; project a good company image.
Requirements:
1) Undergraduate students pursuing bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
2) Operational competence with agricultural equipment (combines, windrowers, balers, headers, tractors, etc.).
3) Candidates require a technical and functional understanding of subsystems that contribute to the operational performance of off-road self-propelled vehicles, including engine, mechanical drives, fluid power and electrical/electronic/software systems.
4) Excellent computer skills. The candidate should be experienced with personal computers, MS Office products and databases.
5) Good oral and written communication skills.
6) Demonstrated ability to work with cross discipline teams as well as being a strong individual contributor.
7) Capable of traveling to worldwide test locations for extended periods of time (40 to 60% of the time in 4 week intervals) with minimal supervision.
8) Qualified or willing to become qualified to drive service support vehicles with trailers up to 26,000 lbs GCVW (Class C license with a good driving record).
