Drug Information Internship
at Genentech, Inc in South San Francisco, CA
The purpose of this internship is to provide the Doctor of Pharmacy candidate an opportunity to participate in an industry based Medical Communication (Drug Information) group. The candidate will gain knowledge in providing product information to health care professionals and interacting with related departments in a regulated environment. The candidate will learn the methods and practices used in the industry-based practice setting.
Goals:
• Provide experience in drug information by working within the Genentech Medical Communications department
• Strengthen communication skills
• Provide experience in the pharmaceutical industry
These goals will be accomplished by meeting the following objectives:
• Develop a familiarity of various drug information resources
• Participate in departmental educational activities and special projects
• Participate in departmental operational activities and projects to develop an awareness of systems and process technology requirements
• Demonstrate a knowledge and awareness of the functions and roles of pharmaceutical industry-based drug information pharmacists
Internship responsibilities:
• Learn and utilize available electronic resources
• Give 1-2 presentations to the department
• Poster presentation for Intern program
• Departmental projects and presentation
• Managed Care projects and presentation
• Assist the Medical Communications Operations team
Actual starting and ending dates of the internship is negotiable based on selected student's school schedule.
Qualifications
The summer paid internship will be 10 to 12 weeks in duration. Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of a Doctor of Pharmacy program. Genentech's internship program requirements must be met for consideration/participation (cover letter, resume, and phone interview).
