IT Intern (working on financial applications)
at Verizon Wireless in Warren Township, New Jersey
Responsibilities
The Finance-IT group responsible for production maintenance, development and production support of several Verizon Wireless financial and legal applications including the ReconNET platform, Prepay Financial Systems and Stratofax. Candidate will be working with analysts and developers working on various applications. Candidate will assist analysts with documentation and learn best practices for conducting software development analysis and utilization of available toolsets. Candidate will work with developers for exposure to various programming language and web based frameworks used to create some of the applications. Candidate will assist in systems testing and learn development processes in a corporate environment. Candidate will also be involved in providing triage level support services for internal clients.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a four year college or university with an emphasis in Computer Science, Management Information Systems
- Ability to operate independently with a minimum of supervision is required although IT staff will communicate frequently regarding progress of assignments
- Team player with good organizational and communication skills
- The ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Solid research skills
- Ability to successfully multi-task Specific to an intern's responsibilities, the intern should have some programming experience, preferable in a web framework/context.
The summer intern should be versed in:
- Computer Science/Information Systems/Technologies.
- Programming/analytical skills
- Interpersonal/communications skills.
Exposure to the following software technologies is a plus:
- Windows/SQL server 2005
- IIS/ASP or Java/Apache
- RBDMS (SQL)
- CVS - UNIX/Solaris
- Perl/AWK - RBDMS (Oracle), SQL
- Cognos/Apache
- Java, J2EE including JDBC, JNDI, EJB, JSP and JMS, Jakarta Struts
- IBM Websphere platform Application Server 5.0 and Studio Application Developer 5.x
