Entry Level Programmer (with a focus on Flash / Flex and Java)

Responsibilities
This position is an entry level developer with a focus on Flash, Flex and Java in our wireless data solutions team. This is one of our most cutting edge teams in VZW’s IT organization.
Our Web Application Engineers help drive the delivery of successful, cutting edge products by working on a team with other highly talented Development and Quality Engineers.
The Member of Applications Staff works as a member of the Applications Development team. Typically, the incumbent will require close supervision and a significant amount of training. However, it is expected that the Member of Applications Staff will increasingly demonstrate the ability to work independently.
Works as a team member on small to intermediate size projects of low to average complexity. Works under the direction and supervision of senior applications staff and management.
Completes assigned applications tasks on time (e.g., design, development, testing, maintenance, documentation, etc.).
Performs problem resolution activities according to established procedures and makes supervised decisions that impact assignments.
Proactively communicates status reports and critical issues to manager. Successfully completes all relevant technical and professional training programs in accordance with Performance Agreement goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
• ** Recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree (or Masters) in Computer Science (or closely related major) ***
• ** A love of programming is a must***
• Solid grades in programming classes (Java, C++ etc.)
• Some experience with with Adobe Flash and Flex, ActionScript and Rich Internet Application development concepts.
• Familiarity with building Flash-based presentations.
• Ability to thrive working in a team environment.
• Motivated self-starter who likes working on very productive, fast-paced teams.
• Passionate desire to build great products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• PC literacy, including working knowledge of desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc.)
• Working knowledge of information systems concepts
• Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow directions
• Good organizational and problem solving abilities
• Good verbal and written communications skills
