Safety & Environmental Intern

The Safety & Environmental Intern will efficiently coordinate and maintain project safety and accident prevention in a manner consistent with Company policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with the Company safety program
• Develop and implement safety related programs
• Organize and coordinate medical facilities and other emergency plans
• Work efficiently under time constraints
• Organize, monitor, teach if necessary, and help with safety meetings and training programs
• Inspect work areas and operations to identify and take action to correct, unsafe practices and conditions
• Assist during regulatory agency inspections and investigations
• Assist supervisors in the development or review of a job hazard analysis for each major phase of work and for types of operations that have not been analyzed
• Help determine best safety practices and share that knowledge throughout the company
• Other assignments as directed
Requirements
• Applicant must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Safety or related major
• Ability to teach, mentor, and lead
• Ability to work in high production environment
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ambitious attitude with a solutions minded approach to problem solving
• Must be able to perform, train and/or be trained in the following: Hazard Communication, use of PPE, confines space, ergonomics, crane safety, respiratory protection, fall protection and blood borne pathogens
