Job Description:

Applied Research Associates (ARA) is looking for a person to assist a team in designing and developing a Java-based application for modeling and simulation of electromagnetic effects. This is an intern position for an ARA project that can transition to a full-time position. The position is with the Characterization & Planning Group, part of the ARA Southeast Division (SED) located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

You will:

· Assist in requirements definition

· Assist in developing preliminary designs

· Implement new features in Java-based applications

· Develop test scripts

· Execute test scripts and document results

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Proficient in the use of Java including 3D graphics development with Java and JUnit
· Understanding of software engineering concepts and data structures
· Pursuing a Bachelors Degree in either and engineering or computer science program
· U.S. Citizen with eligibility to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Knowledge and experience with C++
· Understanding of DBMS such as SQL or Oracle
· Multiple platform experience such as MS XP/VISTA or Linux
· Understanding of discrete mathematics
