Part-time Intern IT Analyst - Plum Creek

Primary Function:
The IT Analyst Intern will assist in the evaluation of business and information technology processes and prepare essential groundwork for software improvements. Participates in requirement definition, use case development, software testing, user training, and general support activities. Alerts project managers to potential risks and issues of importance. Collects software and business process issues and documents them in the issue management system. Attends project meetings with clients and technical personnel and assists with the meeting minutes and updates to project status reports.

Education Required:
• Enrolled in Degree program in Information Technology, Business, Forestry or similar program.

Experience:
• Entry-level.
• Experience in one or more of the following forest industry areas considered a plus but not required: resource management, forestry, geographic information systems, finance.
• Experience using basic computer technology including word processing, spreadsheets, and the Internet.

Specific Skills Required:
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to all levels of technical and non-technical owners.
• Ability to understand and document complex business and technical concepts.
• System development life cycle (SDLC) methodology would be helpful. Knowledge and experience with packaged and/or custom systems implementation methodology, including business case development, analysis, design, training, testing, and support.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2007 products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint is considered a plus.

Duration:
• Minimum three month availability is required; six month availability is preferred.

Hours per Week:
• This is a part-time position with a 16 hour per week minimum. Ideal candidate to work up to 40 hours during non school periods.
